Reptiles
King Cobra
Ophiophagus hannah
About
The longest venomous snake in the world at up to 5.5 meters. Despite the name, king cobras are not true cobras — they belong to their own genus. Their venom can kill an elephant.
Their Eggs
White, leathery eggs laid in a nest of leaves and vegetation that the female constructs by coiling her body to push material into a mound.

Fun Fact
The king cobra is the only snake species that builds a nest for its eggs. The female constructs a two-chambered mound of leaves — eggs in the lower chamber, mother guarding from the upper chamber — and defends it aggressively for the entire incubation period.
