Native to Yemen and Saudi Arabia, the veiled chameleon is one of the most popular pet chameleon species. Known for their dramatic color changes, independently moving eyes, and ballistic tongues that can extend to twice their body length.

Their Eggs

Small, white, oval, soft-shelled eggs buried in moist soil. The clutch is surprisingly large for the animal's size.

Fun Fact

Veiled chameleon eggs have one of the longest incubation periods of any lizard — up to 9 months. The embryos can enter diapause (suspended development) if conditions aren't right, waiting for optimal conditions to resume growth.
