## Why It Works
Egg white contains albumin and other proteins that form a thin, elastic film as they dry on skin. As the film dries and contracts, it physically pulls the skin's surface taut, temporarily reducing the visible size of pores and creating a smoother appearance. The astringent effect also reduces excess sebum on the skin's surface. The result is temporary — lasting a few hours at most — but measurable and real. It's essentially a very cheap sheet mask.
## How to Do It
1. Wash your face and pat dry.
2. Crack one egg and separate the white into a clean bowl.
3. Beat with a fork until slightly frothy.
4. Using clean fingers or a soft brush, apply a thin, even layer to your face. Avoid the eye area and lips.
5. Let it dry completely — 10 to 15 minutes. You'll feel it tighten and pull as it dries.
6. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Follow with your regular moisturizer.
## Pro Tips
- Apply a second thin layer after the first dries for a stronger effect. The double-layer approach produces noticeably more tightening.
- This is not a good choice for very dry or sensitive skin — the protein film can be drying. Stick to oily or normal skin types.
- Add a drop of fresh lemon juice for additional astringent effect, or a drop of honey for moisture balance.
## When to Use This
Before a night out or event when you want your skin to look its best for a few hours. Also useful as a weekly pore treatment if you have oily or combination skin. Not a substitute for a proper skincare routine, but a legitimate and free supplement to one.
